Simply The No.1 Way to Start Your Day!

Now that it feels as though London is moving into summer I thought I’d share some of the inspiring views you can treat yourself too by starting your day just that much earlier. With a little discipline you could find yourself out for a morning jog, a walk in the park or Qi Gong practise looking out over the rooftops. It’s an opportunity to stretch out your muscles, re-energise your body at the start of a new day and taking a step towards your ideal summer feel of health and vitality.

My favorite spot is definitely Hampstead Heath. I’m fortunate to have clients who live close to the park and in the summer we head out to the band stand or the top of kite hill. Meeting to train from about 7am… sometimes earlier. We run, go through a variety of body weight exercises, throw out some punches and kicks into the fresh air and have a blast on the pads. We finishing up with a good stretch and center ourselves back in on to some deep, slow breathing. I am truly blest to be able to call this work.

Now is the time for it…

while it’s light outside. Building up a new routine like this is easy… it’s a real pleasure. But once summer passes and the days get shorter, 7am returns to being darker and colder. Inspiration and motivation are hard to come by then and another year will probably pass.

The Challenge.

Why not get yourself up at least once next week and head out to your nearest patch of green. You don’t even need to ‘exercise‘ as such. Just be out walking and take some time for yourself. Sit on a bench and listen to the birds and the breeze before heading back in to the frantic rush of city living. Once you’ve built up your routine, incorporate some light exercises or a quick jog around the park. Get your body moving and open up your lungs.

You’ll wonder how you never discovered this all essential ‘me time’ before. It will change your week, your month… probably even your life for the better! It’s will become a talking point and the envy of your friends. (Some of whom may already slug it out for half an hour on a treadmill crammed in to their lunch breaks, eating sandwiches at their desks and wondering why they’re always tired and stressed.)

Taking time out of your day for yourself is in no way a waste of time… quite the opposite! It will in return reward you with more time. With greater energy levels you will stay focused and more productive helping you breeze through tasks at work and around your home. Improved vitality will give you the get-up-and-go to experience the things you always dreamed of, and, with a healthier body, a rested mind and a nourished soul the longevity and quality of your life will be enhanced. I simply can not emphasise the sheer awesomeness of enjoying a sunrise.

Happy Training.
